Original blue pictorial cloth gilt designed by Walter Crane (extremities very lightly rubbed, inner hinges weak). Provenance : Patrick Alfred Blackwell (bookplate). Osborne I, 371. HAWTHORNE, Nathaniel (1804-64). Wonder Book for Girls & Boys, London: Osgood, Mcilvaine & Co., 1892. 4° (230 x 158mm). Half title, 19 coloured lithographed plates by Walter Crane coloured initials and decorations. Original pale green and white pictorial cloth designed by Walter Crane (some chipping to head and foot of spine). Osborne I, 11: "Crane made the illustrations ... while visiting in Florida."
