Cranach Press.- Rilke (Rainer Maria) Duineser Elegien; Elegies from the Castle of Duino, translated by V. & Edward Sackville-West, first edition in English, number 182 of 230 copies on handmade Maillol-Kessler paper and signed by the translators, text in English and German, designed by Count Harry Kessler, printed in red and black in Edward Johnston italic cut by E.Prince & G.T.Friend, wood-engraved initials by Eric Gill leather book-plate of Haven O'More, original vellum-backed boards, t.e.g., others uncut, original wrapper (spine a little soiled), original board slip-case (rubbed and browned), a very good copy preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, roan label, 8vo, printed at the Cranach Press for the Hogarth Press, 1931. ⁂ A typically-beautiful production from the press using craftsmen of the highest order, rarely found with both wrapper and slip-case.
