Contemporary half sheep and boards (some wear to edges); quarter morocco folding case. EARLY ACCOUNT OF THE DISCOVERIES OF LEWIS AND CLARK "Sixth edition, improved and enlarged" but actually the fourth edition after those of 1802, 1804, 1806 and THE FIRST TO INCLUDE THE REFERENCE TO THE DISCOVERIES OF LEWIS AND CLARK. It is the first navigational guide to the Ohio and Mississippi rivers which were impotant commercial routes. The appendix includes a summery of the discoveries of Lewis and Clark from a letter written by William Clark to one of his brothers in Louisville and from Patrick Grass's Journal .
