E.L's. showing manuscript "4" and "1" respectively for the firts day usages of the respective new rates, 1840-49 entires showing fine to superb strikes of Uniform Penny Post handstamps with "Pd. 1" (York), "Pd 1d" (Bangor), "Pd/1" (Basingstoke), "PAID/ONE/PENNY" (Bradford), "Pd 1" (Brighton), "CARLISLE/1/PAID", "BOLTON/PAID/ONE", each accompanied by the corresponding commemorative XU5 issued in 1940 by Robson Lowe.
