cover 1826 - 1990, the fabulous collection of postal history and ephemera detailing the history of Bournemouth, including historical letters with several from members of the Tregonwell family, 1832 "free" U5 from Berkeley Portman M.P. staying at Bourne Tregonwell (and posted at Christchurch), 1835 E.L. from Henrietta Tregonwell instructing her agent to sell land at Bourne Tregonwell, 1839 part E. and E.L. with "No. 2" receiving house h.s. (Tregonwell Arms, Bourne) with manuscript "3" and "4", an unrivaled selection of "Bournemouth/Penny Post" h.s. (21 items) including 1842 (17 April) E.L. to Fordingbridge bearing 1840 1d., written by Henrietta Tregonwell at Portman Lodge, 1840 2d. fine on piece, cancelled by red Maltese Cross with Poole c.d.s. and Penny Post h.s. adjacent, 1840 1d. cancelled by similar h.s., and a further 1840 1d. on 1840 (30 Oct.) E.L. from Bourne to London (posted at Christchurch), 1840 1d. Mulready letter sheet to "Miss Pointer, Bournemouth" and cancelled on arrival at Poole (unique); 1850 U5 and part E. both showing very rare circular undated (from Miss Bells sub-office in the square); 1851 and 1855 U5 showing large double-arc c.d.s. in black and blue respectively; 1868 (March) U5 bearing 1d. plate 78 tied by good to fine strike of the black eight bar "B60" obliterator (thought to be unique on U5); 1874 U5 to "The Right Honble./B. Disraeli M.P./Bournemouth" from Queen Victoria's private secretary (A.F. Ponsonby) in Cowes; fine later range with 1904 1d. postal stationery U5 with L. & S. W. Railway 2d. green tied by violet straight-line "BOSCOMBE" h.s.; 1909 U5 bearing 3d. and L. & S. W. 2d. green tied by "BOURNEMOUTH/BOURNEMOUTH WEST/PARCELS" violet h.s., a good selection 1/- Postage Due handstamps, skeletons, 1910 Aviation Meeting and Centenary Fete postcards and ephemera.
