(21 1/2 x 13 1/2in.), on guards, contemporary half calf, red morocco spine label, upper cover detached and binding badly worn, a few map sheets unevenly folded and thus creased vertically by the binder, a few borders cut close or very slightly shaved, left edge of map 41 (Flanders) not glued in place and preserved loose, map 9 (Europe) with small tear at central fold, reverse side of maps 122 and 123 (S. America and Peru) stained with watercolor, some sheets darkened. Engraved additional title by Romeyn de Hooghe preceded by "Liste des cartes" leaf; letterpress title in red and black with vignette; 18 leaves "Introduction à la Géographie" (title in red and black with engraved vignette of two hemispheres) [* 2 A-H2]; 136 double-page or folding engraved mapsheets, all hand-colored in outline, including 6 World maps and 21 relating to the Americas; sheet no. 116 showing four uncolored engraved views of Mexico City, Niagara, New York and Quebec; no. 126 a letterpress sheet of "Remarques" for the Ancient World section; no. 142 an uncolored engraving of artillery pieces, etc. "Krygs en Artillerie tafel."
