Countrey Contentments, in two bookes: the first, containing the whole art of riding great Horses in very short time, with the breeding, breaking, dyeting and ordring of them...Likewise...the arts of hunting, hawking, coursing of grey-hounds with the lawes of the leash, shooting, bowling, tennis, baloone &c...The second intituled The English Husvvife: containing the inward and outward vertues which ought to be in a compleate woman: as her phisicke, cookery, banqueting-stuffe, distillation, perfumes, wooll, hemp, flaxe, dairies, brewing, baking, 2 books in 1, first edition, second book with separate title (this with woodcut device), with blank P4, first title a little frayed and with a minor repair at head, a few ff. browned, [Poynter 23.1; STC 17342], By I[ohn] B[eale] for R. Iackson, and are to be sold at his shop neere Fleet-street Conduit, 1615 bound with Markham (Gervase) Cheape and good Husbandry for the vvell-Ordering of all Beasts, and Fowles, and for the generall Cure of their Diseases, second edition, with initial blank with fleuron, lacking L4 and final blank, [Poynter 22.2; STC 17337], Printed by T.S[nodham] for Roger Iackson, and are to be sold at his shop neere the Conduit in Fleetstreet, 1616 bound with Lawson (William) A New Orchard and Garden, Or The best way for planting, grafting, and to make any ground good, for a rich orchard: particularly in the north parts of England, black letter, first edition, title with woodcut vignette, woodcut illustrations and vignette, [Henrey 226], By Bar: Alsop for Roger Iackson, and are to be sold at his shop neere Fleet-street Conduit, 1618, together 3 works in 1 vol., woodcut initials and head-pieces, outer margin closely trimmed in parts, occasionally affecting side-notes, a few small marginal repairs, some light browning, modern panelled speckled calf, gilt, richly gilt spine in compartments and with red morocco label, small 4to *** A very good sammelband of works on all aspects of the countryside, food and drink and horticulture, including the rare first edition of the Countrey Contentments.
