The four primary missions of this group were to first destroy the German Air Force in the air and on the ground; second, to destroy German airplane manufacturing plants and refineries; third, to attack Italian communication; and fourth, to weaken the German position in the Balkans. This group flew 191 missions over southern Europe, shot down 97 German aircraft and dropped 10,528 tons of bombs. Condition: All insignia are with expected worn condition, the most weathered insignia being the left eagle insignia. Breast insignia with lighting bolt is ca 25% severed from the jacket. The lining is partially detached from the jacket, especially in the neck and shoulder regions.
