These six titles were originally part of the series of seven costume books published by William Miller between 1801 and 1805. In 1812 Miller's business was purchased by John Murray who sold the remaining copies, sheets and plates of the costume books to Thomas M'Lean in about 1818, and M'Lean reissued the works over the following years, often with unamended title pages. M'Lean's 1821 advertisement in this copy of The Punishments of China lists Miller's seven titles, but also an additional four titles, some (e.g. Bradfor
