A-D 4 E 6; [F] 1 (inserted leaf, miniatures on recto and verso) [G] 4 [H] 8 [I-M] 4 [N] 2. 22 printed leaves; 31 manuscript leaves, COMPLETE. Italic type, woodcut t.p. vignette. Title page, dedication page, first leaf of printed text and some text pages with vignette, titles, initials and names highlighted in gilt; all text pages both printed and manuscript with three-quarter borders in gilt, silver and colors; full-page miniature of the lion of St. Mark advancing from the sea onto land (f. 23r), full-page miniature of an achievement of arms of the Rectores of Bergamo (f. 23v). The documents in black ink in a scribal hand of the early 17th century, headings and names in gilt, 4 drawings of notaries' marks, papered seal on f. 26v. A few contemporary manuscript corrections to the printed text. (Some oxydization of pigments, some bleed-through or offset from borders, occasional cockling, inner margin of f. 23 torn touching border of miniature.) Binding of contemporary rose-colored silk over pasteboard, framed with a gilt roll in a leafy scrolling pattern, gilt fleurons in the corners and in the spine compartments, remains of four pairs of pink silk ties, paper endleaves, gilt edges (worn, top board partially detached, front flyleaf loose, spine partially perished, first four quires and f. 23 partially detached.) THE DEDICATION COPY of this work detailing the genealogy of the Suardi family of Bergamo, Italy. Members of the Suardi family have played a prominent role in the politics, government, and culture of Bergamo from the eleventh century to the present. Petrus Bonorenus Corbella, a canon of Bergamo, traced their ancestry to Germans who accompanied the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa to Italy in the twelfth century and were entrusted by him with the government of the city. Corbella's work, which was derived in part from Francesco Sansovino's Della origine et de fatti degli famiglie illustri d'Italia (Venice, 1582), was reprinted in Padua in 1715 under the title Breve summarium genealogiae illustrissimae Soardorum familiae . The present copy is clearly the dedication copy of the work, as the names of the dedicatee, his sons and his ancestors, are highlighted in gold both in the printed and the manuscript p
