Continental School, 19th Century Ascension of a Male Figure, Possibly St. John the Baptist Unsigned, inscribed "Giovanni di Fiorontini [sic]" in pencil on the reverse. Black chalk and ink on heavy laid paper with partial watermark, 7 13/16 x 10 in. (19.8 x 25.4 cm), framed. Condition: Trimmed along the bottom edge, minor rippling, tape hinged to back mat at two places along the top of the verso. N.B. San Giovanni dei Fiorentini is a minor basilica and a titular church in the Ponte rione of Rome. The drawing may possibly relate to the decoration of that church.
