Conrad, Joseph TYPHOON, THE COMPLETE AUTOGRAPH DRAFT MANUSCRIPT with revisions to every page but one (fol. 125), many leaves incorporating extensive deletions, corrections, and additions, written in black ink, text on rectos only except for the versos of fols 66 (a few scattered notes only), 67, and 133, all text on versos cancelled in blue crayon, some additional corrections and editorial notes in blue crayon and pencil, 191 leaves, foliated in orange crayon at the foot of every recto (fol.55 omitted but with no gap in the manuscript, and one page unnumbered in crayon but with later number "82a" in pencil), also with four sequences of somewhat irregular autograph foliations (1-26, 1-37, 1-34, 1-106) occasionally corrected in blue or red crayon, on lined writing paper of two stocks, the first 64 leaves (p. 64 misnumbered 65) on large post paper (275 x 211mm, watermarked "Adam Bury Extra Strong Bank"), the remaining 127 leaves on foolscap paper (325 x 205mm, watermarked "English Made Bank Rock Bros Ltd"), the manuscript dated at the end ("Midnight 10th-11th Jan[uar]y 1901"), loosely inserted in a crushed brown morocco solander case by Bradstreet's, together with the autograph address panel from the manilla envelope in which the manuscript was sent to John Quinn (postmarked 24 May 1912), a brief typescript note on the foliations, and loose bookplates of John Quinn and Barton Wood Currie, tears to at least 8 leaves not affecting text (fols 10, 52, 66, 80, 139, 140, 168, 187), tiny burn holes on fol. 155 not affecting text, occasional smudging and staining, a few leaves creased (e.g. fols 1, 6, 12, 14, 91), pin holes to some leaves [with:] corrected typescript of Typhoon, almost certainly typed by Jessie Conrad and with extensive autograph corrections and revisions to all but ten leaves (fol. 69 and the final nine leaves), with his autograph name and address ("Pent Farm | Stanford | Nr Hythe | Kent") on the first recto and also on the versos of fols 33 and 53, typed in blue ink, corrections in black ink to fol. 101 and thereafter in pencil, text on rectos only, some passages cancelled in blue crayon (especially on fols 54-59 and 61), 128 leaves, foliated 1-134 but fol. 10 duplicated and three leaves with multiple foliations ("22 and 23", "29 and 30", "70, 71, & 72"), these three leaves and two others (fols 48 and 65) comprising two leaves stuck together, small post quarto (230 x 180mm, watermarked "Willowbrook Extra Fine"), [October 1900-January 1901], loose in a crushed brown solander case by Bradstreet's with the autograph addressed envelope in which it was sent to John Quinn (postmarked 9 December 1912) labelled "Typed matter no commercial value", lacking two leaves (fols 46-47), comprising the end of chapter 2, fols 53 and 69 split in two, a slip forming part of leaf labelled "70, 71, 72" loose, minor tears to at least four leaves (fols 58, 61, 132 and 133) not affecting text, pin holes
