Ford Madox Ford (F.M. Hueffer) New York Dec. MCMXXVI". The novelist and man of letters Madox Ford, also known as Ford Madox Hueffer, was Conrad's closest literary friend and collaborator between 1898 and 1909 (see Part I, lot 35).
