Connaught Rangers: [Drummy (Patrick)] A small collection of items relating to Sergeant Patrick Drummy probably of Cork, 1st Battn. Connaught Rangers, who died in Mesopotamia in July 1917, including an original photograph showing Drummy with two companions; an autograph letter from Drummy, signed with monogram, dated 10.1.(19)17, from Mesopotamia to his wife Madge, 1pp. in purple pencil, 'This is an awful country, I am after travelling 2 or 3 hundred miles of it already and it is as flat as a billiard table....'; a letter of commiseration to Drummy's wife from Patrick Courtney, also of Connaught Rangers, from Bangalore in India, Oct. 1917, stating that Sgt. Drummy died of heat stroke in July or August 1917. 'All the boys that knew him, send their deepest sorrow to you, as for myself I am very sorry indeed, as I have been with him in Killarney the time of the rebellion...'; also an official printed notice of commiseration; and some documents about army pay and pensions issued to Mrs. Drummy at a Cork address; a T.L.s accompanying a payment for Mrs. Drummy's son William in respect of an artificial eye, 1924; and a document from the Imperial War Graves Commission.
