Amsterdam, Isack Greve, [c. 1740]. Oblong 8vo. Rebound in 19th century gold-tooled three quarter calf (rubbed at extremities) over marbled boards. With engraved title (contemp. inscriptions in the lower margin (erased) and on the reverse (name entry 1762) and 59 engraved plates from 'Liber Genesis' by Crispijn van de Passe. Title and 7 plates restored (closed tears, 1 plate with loss of image and clumsy ink restoration), sl. toned with occasional (foxing) stains (mainly to the margins), p. 12 - 56 good. Complete. (60) pl. Notes: The engravings were originally published in 1612 in 'Liber Genesis' by Crispijn van de Passe, with captions in Latin. After the second edition in 1616 they were sold to the publisher Jacob van Biesen in Cologne. Isack Greve re-used the plates to publish this edition with Dutch captions in the first half of the 18th century. A copy in the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. The Rijksmuseum holds 47 of the 60 engravings in this edition.
