(1) Fr. Huygen (ed.) and Wim Beeren (introd.). Piet Zwart en het gezicht van Bruynzeel's potloden industrie. Rott., exhib. cat. B 84 Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, 1983, 16 p., w. ills., orig. wr., 4to. The frontwrapper depicts 2 wooden pencil-boxes by Bruynzeel, from the early 1950s, both present in our lot. "Efficiency en materiaalbesparing stonden bij Zwart hoog in het vaandel geschreven en leidden niet zelden tot innovatieve ideeën. Zo vond hij dat afval nog wel te gebruiken was en probeerde hij uit resthout doosjes te maken. Deze experimenten resulteerden in doosjes van fineerhout die door een sigarenfabriek gemaakt werden." (p. 13-14). (2) Wooden "halsdoos" containing 12 (of 24), Bruynzeel (col.) (orig.?) pencils, marked "2505-24/1" and "Bruynzeel Holland" in gilt-lettering, 19 x 11.5 x 2.5 cm (w. superficial dam. spots). (3) Wooden box w. sliding lid, containing 6 Bruynzeel col. pencils, num. "No.1-No.6" in gilt-lettering, the box with the Bruynzeel logo ("prooizoekende arend") and name on the lid, 19 x 6 x 1 cm. -and 7 var. board Bruynzeel pencil-boxes, 5x filled w. var. amounts of pencils (partly not original), 2x empty, and an empty col. metal Bruynzeel pencil-box.
