Thirty-six volumes, uniformly bound by Cawthorn & Hutt of Charing Cross (approximately contemporary with the final volume), with their label in each volume, mottled calf gilt, black leather spine labels, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. 9 x 5 3/8 inches (23 x 13.5 cm); 2592 fine engraved plates after Sowerby, two folding (all but four plates hand-colored, the uncolored plates as issued), each with accompanying text, together with titles, indices etc. (including the general index in the final volume). Carefully refurbished, many volumes neatly rebacked retaining original spines, some wear, a few labels chipped or with neat modern replacements, but externally sound and internally generally a very fresh, clean set (some minor spotting in portions of volume 16, apparently due to a paper flaw). This was a huge publishing project, and was the most extensive and complete English botany to that date.
