COLONIAL MEXICAN DOCUMENTS] ITURBIDE, AUGUSTIN DE. Autograph document signed "Augustin de Iturbide" [Mexico] 4 April 1816. One sheet 8vo, folded vertically into 4 columns; brown ink, text entirely in Spanish, covering 3½ columns, approximately the space of two regular "pages"; some offsetting; browning, random soiling, not affecting the text . An official communication, in which Iturbide, in his capacity as Commander of the Mexican Army, issues some edicts about military administration. Later the same year, Iturbide was forced out of his position as Army chief; he emerged from semi-retirement in 1822 when he briefly served as Emperor of Mexico (May 1822-March 1823) -- Printed document, unsigned, regarding governmental reorganization. Mexico, September 1820. One sheet, 8vo, folded to make four pages; text entirely in Spanish printed on three pages, final page blank; edges lightly browned, faintly tattered . Concerns Guadelupe and the ordinances passed on 3 September 1820 -- Together with: Printed document, partly in autograph in an anonymous secretarial hand(s), regarding military appointments. Mexico, 22 June 1822. One page, 8vo, printed text , entirely in Spanish, on recto only; official page bottom; autographs and emendations, in at least two hands, on recto and verso . Names Don Felipe Codallos as Battalian Commander. Dated, by hand on verso, 22 June 1822; the Mexican government was overuled by a junta in October 1821; the first provisional Mexican Congress on 24 February 1822: this document was no doubt a product of that provisional government -- JUAREZ, BENITO. President of Mexico . Autograph letter signed, ("Benito Juarez"), as President of Mexico to "My Dear Friend," 3 July 1863; One 8vo sheet, folded to make four pages; text entirely in Spanish, on verso of first page only; folded for mailing; some light dampstaining to brown ink, blurring but not obscurring a few words towards the right margin . A brief communication in which Juarez; then fighting to maintain his Presidency, discusses the organization of his administration, mentioning various possible delegates and official appointments -- MAXIMILLIAN. Autograph letter signed ("Maximillian") to "Mi querido Ministro Cortes y Esparzal," Chapultepec, [Mexico], 31 December 1864. One entire page, 8vo, text, entirely in Spanish, on recto only; folded for mailing; lightly darkened; few light creases . A brief communication from Maximillian of Austria, installed by French invaders as Emperor of Mexico in June 1864, only 6 months prior to this missive, deposed and executed just three years later.
