Manuscript of a memoir book and a collection of personal items which belonged to William Williams a policeman in the Palestine Police Force, who was engaged in journalistic and literary writing. Palestine, ca.1930s-40s. English. * Palestine To-Day, a 416 page manuscript, typewritten, documenting the period that the author stayed in Palestine. The manuscript mentions the recruitment of Jews to the British Army during World War II, the Arab support of Nazi Germany, "White Book" decrees and the ungrateful attitude of the British towards the Jews, holocaust victims and the return of illegal immigrations ships to Europe, the "Haganah" Organization and other subjects. The manuscript reflects a very supportive and positive attitude to Zionism and the Jews. * Tens of leaves, typewritten, with writings about Palestine, letters to newspaper editorials, quotations from famous authors, lists for learning Hebrew words, reflections about the Jewish people and historic figures and other subjects. * About 100 leaves, filed in two ring binders (typewritten, with various hand-drawn additions) from the period during which Williams was trained as a policeman. Summaries of lectures and policing theories, conducting investigations, deciphering fingerprints, drawing maps and more. * Seven notebooks, certificates and tickets from various periods in Williams' life: certificate of service in the British army, certificate of service in the police force, discharge certificate from the police, and more. Size and condition vary. Good-fair overall condition.
