"Cogan advised students to breakfast on light digestible foods, to avoid overloading the stomach with a variety of meats at one meal, to cut down on salt and to drink milk as a conteractant to melancholy. He recognized that excessive study made students prone to mental breakdown and recommended that they take regular breaks from study to avoid exhausting their mental energy, and that they refresh their minds with recreations such as music or games" (Norman). Very rare : According to ABPC only two copies have appeared at auction in at least past last forty years, and only an additional copy is found on online auction records since 1930. 4to (174 x 129 mm). Black letter, some marginal notes in roman and italic. Woodcut printer's device on title, woodcut arms of Edward Seymor on verso, several woodcut initials, two historiated. (Title lightly soiled and with early owners’ pen trials and minor ink stains, some dampstaining [heavy in some places], some headlines shaved.) 19th-century calf gilt, arms of W.H. Miller on sides, his monogram in two compartments, edges gilt (dampstained). Provenance : William Finch (early signature on title and his? marginalia); William Henry Miller Britwell Court Library (binding), by descent to; Samuel Christie Miller, to; Wakefield Christie Miller; to S.
