Silver gelatin copy stereoview on a cabinet mount with the imprint of Foster, Richmond, Virginia, with inked description on lined paper pasted on verso: "Old Sorrel" Stonewall Jackson's horse on which he was killed. This horse Jackson rode through 13 battles, viz: 1st Manassas, Kernstown, McDowell, Winchester, Fort Republic, Cross Keys, on the Chickahominy, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Harper's Ferry, Fredericksburg and last at Chancellorsville. After Gen'l Jackson was wounded the horse escaped into the Federal lines, and was recaptured the next morning by the 2nd Corps under Command of J.E.B. Stuart. These pictures were taken at Exposition New Orleans, La., 1884 & 1885. The horse died at Soldiers Home Richmond, Va., 1887, "36 years old."
