Small 3-ring binder (6.5 x 9 in.) with pamphlets of mid-19th century songs. "This Song Souvenir of Old War Songs and G.A. R. and Patriotic Songs is Presented to the Grand Army of the Republic,...Richmond, IND. and Vicinity." Advertising piece of Joseph Grimm of Richmond (furniture and carpets). 30 pp. plus a handwritten addition paper clipped to rear wrap. Some songs with music, others lyrics only. Lots of other advertising interspersed. "Old Army Songs Compiled for the Use of the Vets who Wore the Blue." Printed paper wraps, 62pp. Lyrics only. "This Song Souvenir of Old War Songs and G.A.R. and Patriotic Songs is Presented to the Grand Army of the Republic.....Indianapolis and Indiana...." Issued by Webb's Rail Road Ticket Office. 1893 in ink at top of front wrap. Printed paper wraps, 96pp. Also with some music, some just lyrics. "Popular and Patriotic G.A.R. Songs and Poems." Also from the Richmond, IN vicinity. With 1897 (over?) written on front wrap. 32pp. Some music, some lyrics. "Forty Rounds From the Cartridge Box of the Fighting Chaplain....War Songs most Popular in Camp-Fires and Re-Unions..." Chaplain Lozier, Department Chaplain, GAR, Mt.Vernon, Iowa. Printed paper wraps, 58pp plus 6 pp ads. Loose leaflet, possibly a supplement to the above. "The Grand Army / Camp-Fire-Extra, Consisting of Old Familiar War Songs." 8pp. Plus loose page explaining that pamphlet was published about 1887 when Chaplain Lozier was in great demand as a speaker for GAR and other patriotic events. Camp-Fire Songs. Arranged by Lot Abraham. New York: John R. Alden, pbul., 1891. Printed paper wraps, 30pp. Inserted is leaflet with music for "When the Boys in Blue are Gone." "Our National Songs." Issued by the White Sewing Machine company, Cleveland, OH, with White's advertising on wraps. Printed wraps, 8pp. "Red, White and Blue Songster." Battered copy in handmade wraps, with "A Relic of Civil War Days. Carried in the Union Army by Alexander M. Strong - later of Richmond, Ind. G.A.R. Comrade of Argus Erwin Ogborn (the assembler of this group of songsters) handwritten on front "wrap." Booklet of Souvenir Gettysburg postcards, Gettysburg: Blochers Publ., n.d., but likely first quarter 20th century. All 25 color postcards are present in their folder. Plus facsimile copies of Lincoln Campaign Songster and New-England Almanac for 1863. Condition: All pamphlets have some kind of paper taped to the spine, that is then punched for insert into binder. Many are brittle and detaching from those papers. This group appears to have been used by GAR members with appropriate wear.
