The lot is accompanied by a portrait of an anonymous invalid in "working dress," with inked caption below portrait stating: After having fever & ague for 3 mos. Taken in my working dress. With a Matteson, Middletown, PA backmark. Also included is a portrait of an unidentified naval officer, ca 1880s, with a Sarony, Broadway, NY backmark and verso inscription, Friend, E. Biondi. Condition: Toning to cdv of drinking ruffians; corners of carte have been trimmed. Anonymous invalid cdv with trimmed corners.
