Lot of 7 CDVs, including: Standing view of a bearded second lieutenant wearing what appears to be a VI Corps, 1 Division badge on his coat, verso imprint, "Ebonytype, from Gage's Portrait Gallery, St. Johnsbury, Vt." Standing view of a sergeant wearing a kepi adorned with what looks to be VI Corps, 1 Division insignia, pencil identified on verso as "Sergt. H.H. Whitney, Co H, 6th Regt. Vt. Vols." Verso imprint of C.L. Howe, Brattleboro, VT. Henry H. Whitney enlisted in August 1861 and mustered into Co. H, 6th VT Infantry two months later. Whitney was promoted to corporal on November 1, 1861, and sergeant on July 10, 1863. He re-enlisted in December 1863 but was killed five months later at Wilderness, VA (May 6, 1864). Vignetted view that appears to be a copy photo made from a cased image showing a young soldier identified in pencil on verso as, "Henry Parker Worsley / died during Civil War." Verso imprint of H.B. King, Taunton, MA. Worsley, a 20 year-old machinist, enlisted and was mustered in on September 1862 with Co. G, 4th Massachusetts Infantry. HDS states that he mustered out in September 1863 but makes no reference to him suffering from wounds or dying during the war. CDV of young boy wearing Zouave-style costume, standing in a studio setting posed with a Burnside carbine. Verso with imprint of Wayland & McMillan, Providence, RI, and penciled note, "Clarence Ford, son of Dwight Ford." Three cartes de visite of unidentified soldiers, including a seated officer with verso imprint of Hersey, Montpelier, VT; standing view of a soldier armed with what may be an imported rifle musket, imprint of J.D. Powers, Springfield, VT (wear to print and mount, including several creases/damage to lower right corner of print and mount); and shoulder length portrait of an unknown soldier with verso imprint of Burwell & Homan, New Haven, CT (light horizontal crease through center of print/mount, wear to top right and left corners of mount, few scattered spots/stains). Condition: Range in condition, with light to moderate toning to cartes. Some scattered spots and smudges.
