Fremont engraving, copyright 1864, engraved by J.C. Buttre, based on a photograph by Rockwood, with border design by W. Momberger; 14 x 18 in. 99 lithographed CDVs by L. Prang & Co., Boston, featuring Union and Confederate Civil War generals and other officers of note, plus Civil War-era politicians (several of their wives are included as well). Condition: Cartes housed in an album is worn and with the front cover is completely separated. Most cartes very good, though some with light foxing. Burnside engraving heavily toned, with flyspecks at upper right and scattered small scuffs. Fremont's less toned, but with scattered minor stains and soiling, and a 2.5 in. tear in the right margin.
