Glue relined. Two parallel gouges to the paint surface to the jacket and sash in the lower right quadrant, each 1 1/4 inch long. Frame rubbing, with corresponding inpainting. Visible stretcher mark, with appears to have been inpainted. Scattered touches of inpaint in the background. 6 inch horizontal repaired tear running across the sitter's chest, with a vertical repaired tear 3/4 of an inch high at the left end. Scattered small repaired tears. Dense varnish, making it difficult to interpret restoration under UV light.
