THE FRONT FREE ENDPAPER INSCRIBED, "Inscribed by Winston S. Churchill 1950." THE FRONT PASTEDOWN SIGNED, "Elizabeth R, September 27th, 1952." Beneath Churchill's inscription, Colonel Charles Vaughan has inscribed, "To Bill Gilmans-Smith. With the grateful thanks of 'All Commandos.' In you we have found a 'True Friend.' Your efforts on our behalf will never be forgotten. Charles Vaughan, 6th October 1952." This copy is further signed by c.70 members of the Commandos, many of whom are mentioned in the book.
