Together 4 pages, 4to, 10 Downing St. and Hyde Park Gate stationery . "PEOPLE GET VERY ANGRY WHEN THEY LOOK UP THEIR NAMES AND FIND THEMSELVES INCORRECTLY DESCRIBED" A fine quartet of letters to his editor at Cassell & Co., concerning his final book, History of the English Speaking Peoples . Experienced author that he is, Churchill knows that the index is often the first part of a book that the great and the good consult so he thanks Sundell for proofing and correcting his own: "People get very angry when they look up their names and find themselves incorrectly described. There is no need to insert titles in accordance with the New Years Honours List if that causes any delay..." The other letter pertain to corrections of proofs and a query of the jacket cover. "If you are satisfied with the 'generosity' of the spacing above and below the asterisks, and that this will be worthy of Cassells, I see no harm in it..." (2 December 1955). On 9 December he thanks Sundell for the jacket proof of volume I, but finds the image of the Bayeux Tapestry "a very sanguine and brutal view of the subject" and wonders "Who have you consulted in the matter?" Together 4 items . (4)
