CHURCHILL, Winston S. "MY VERY AMUSING GAMES OF POKER..." Churchill begins with Cabinet business ("I don't suppose Baldwin saw the paragraph you mention...") before turning to a personal gambling debt: "I am just off to Scotland, & must apologize to you for not having previously sent you the enclosed cheque, wh covers my vy amusing games of poker. If by any chance it is not correct, please let me know." Churchill was an enthusiastic gambler, often frequenting the casinos of Monte Carlo and the French Riviera, in spite of (and usually in complete disregard of) his often straightened financial circumstances. -- CHURCHILL.
