CHURCHILL, Winston S. A collection of 271 Ministry of Information photographs of Churchill at various Allied conferences with F.D.R., Stalin, Mackenzie King, and other Allied leaders and advisors, 1943-1945. Each photo 3 1/16 x 3, mounted on stiff cards (27 cards total). CHURCHILL'S WARTIME TRAVELS are vividly depicted in this fascinating collection of candid shots of Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin at the Yalta Conference, Churchill with Stalin at Moscow, FDR, Churchill, and Mackenzie King at the first and second Quebec Conference in August 1943 and September 1944, and dramatic photos of Churchill in Athens during his famous Christmas 1944 visit. With gunfire in the streets between government forces and Communist guerillas, Churchill spoke on the balcony of the British embassy alongside Archbishop Damaskinos and Prime Minister George Papandreou (grandfather of the current Prime Minister), then brokered a conference between Papandreou and the ELAS communist leaders. Top advisors such as Anthony Eden, Jan Smuts, Molotov, George C. Marshall and Alanbrooke are also depicted in these photos. There are relaxed shots such as the one of Eleanor Roosevelt dangling a piece of food in front of FDR's little dog Fala (on his hind legs) while Mackenzie King observes from a respectful distance. (271)
