CHURCHILL, WINSTON, English Prime Minister. Typed document signed ("WChurchill") as Secretary for War and Air to King George V, COUNTERSIGNED BY KING GEORGE V: ("App[rove]d G. R. I."); War Office, London, 27 April 1920. 1 page, folio, 330 x 180mm. (3 x 7 1/4 in.), slight browning, matted within decorative borders, incorporating a photograph of Churchill and his wife, Clementine, glazed in a giltwood frame. Fine. [ With ] Typed letter signed ("Clementine S. Churchill"), Admiralty House, Whitehall, London, 6 June 1940. Secretary Churchill sends King George a petition "for Major James Joyce, late Royal Army Ordinance Corps, for the grant of extra duty pay for the period during which he performed the duties of an officer on the Directing Staff of the Royal Army Ordinance Corps. A memorandum on the case is enclosed. It is not recommended that Your Majesty may be pleased to issue any special instructions in regard to this Petition."
