Chungking 1894 Third Issue Covers Combination with Shanghai Local Post: Incoming Mail; 1895 (22 Nov.) Dierking envelope to Chungking bearing Shanghai 1893 1c. brown and black cancelled by a light strike of the Shanghai Local Post c.d.s. in blue, a further strike is on the reverse along with faint "hankow/local post" c.d.s. in violet (26.11) and "customs/hankow" c.d.s. (26.11) and an examiner's handstamp in blue. A fine and rare cover. It appears that there was a problem with the Local Post delivery between Hankow and Chungking at this time and, to avoid any further delay, this letter was given to the Customs Post to complete its journey.
