Coloured frontispiece, half tone plates, illustrations, some full-page, errata leaf, 3 folding plates at end, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH APPROXIMATELY 42 ENGRAVED PLATES, some double-page or folding, and including 2 original unsigned pen-and-ink and watercolour studies of ships, one in stormy seas. Contemporary dark blue crushed morocco gilt by Howell of Liverpool, the spine with raised bands, lettered in gilt, gilt edges, elaborate dentelles with nautical motifs stamped in gilt (a few very light scuff marks).
