Château Léoville-Barton--Vintage 2005
12 bottles per lot
CHÂTEAU LEOVILLE BARTON The smallest portion of what was once the massive Leoville estate, Leoville Barton has been owned by the Barton family since 1826. The 48 hectares sit on gravelly-clay soil in the eastern part of St. Julien and are planted with 72 Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 Merlot and 8 Cabernet France. The wines are matured for 18 months in 50 new oak barriques. Typically classic claret, the wines are best consumed with ten to fifteen years of bottle age. Château Léoville-Barton--Vintage 2005 Saint-Julien, 2me cru classé. Château-bottled "The 05 Léoville Barton is an attempt at a serious wine, with classic dark black currant fruit on the nose and a structured and firm texture on the palate - lots of stuffing, but drying tannins on the finish. This needs time but should age well." Tasted at the IMW Annual Claret Tasting in London. CC, November 2009 12 bottles per lot
