My immediate guess was a First Growth from Pauillac (it has the impact), or a Second from St.Estephe, hedging my bets! Attack, verve, minerality. Inky and irony on the palate. An almost salty taste along with the velvet richness. Simply wonderful, better than ever before, and I was already a big fan. SS. Lot 444 12 bts (sc) per lot: USD 1200-1600 The sheer expression of St.Estephe comes to us from this great property, just over a little stream from Lafite and Pauillac. As the ground rises, you see the wonderfully exotic architecture of Cos, a landmark in the Medoc and one of the most distinctive of all its labels. Jean-Guillaume-Prats conducts the affairs of Cos with enormous aplomb, each year turning out wines that possess that real St.Estephe flavour and 'bite', incredibly pure and indubitably long-lived.
