First edition of this book in the deluxe gilt embossed binding of 1/4 vellum and paper covered boards with all edges gilt. There were 100 signed copies of this edition published, but this copy is without the limitation page and one presumes was an extra copy which Aldin inscribed in pencil to the publisher thus "To Percy Cave, because he published it" and with a signed pencil sketch of a fox above the inscription (occupying the blank page opposite the title page). Page 67 of the book has a similar illustration of a fox to the pencil drawing (see image). The binding is a little soiled and worn at the edges with some bubbling of the paper adjacent to the spine on the front board. Internally the book is clean and without foxing or other markings. A very good copy of this important association copy. Binding Condition: Very Good Overall Condition: Very Good Size: 4to.
