An exceptional scrimshaw cane with a wonderfully carved medium-sized Sperm Whale tooth mounted as a handle. This tooth is nicely curved, 6" long and 1.5" wide at its widest point. The top has a wonderful full length carving of a sperm whale in relief. This is mounted on fine, tapered 6 piece whale bone and baleen shaft. Total length 33.5", appears to have never had a ferrule. Nice patina overall, and one of the Cowan's staff's favorites! Condition:Very Slight chips to root of tooth, none of which are larger than 1/16", insignificant tight & short hairlines in whale bone, else excellent.
