Original red cloth gilt, gilt edges (lightly soiled). FIRST EDITION. Provenance : Cecilia Radley (ownership inscription) -- Fotheringham's English Library, Cannes (label). Inscribed "To my little niece Juliet Hueffer who loves poetry, with her aunt Lucy's love, Nov 28th 189[-]"; and 3 other volumes in the "Canterbury Poets" series. Katharine Hueffer (b. 1900) was the second child of Ford and Elsie. Juliet Hueffer was Ford's younger sister, and "Aunt Lucy" Ford Madox Brown's daughter by his first marriage. (6)
