Fra Gulielmus Caoursin was the vice chancellor of Rhodes during the battle between the Knights of St. John and the substantially larger Turkish forces. This bestseller, which was a recounting of the clash thus far, was intended to incite patrons to financially or materially support the fight to hold this geographical (and symbolic) line between Christianity and Islam.
