Publisher's red pictorial cloth gilt. 270 pp. plus Ads; 3 folding maps in rear pocket, 2 folding maps bound in, 5 full-page maps, plates. Spine sunned with minor chipping to spine ends, pale staining to covers, lightly and evenly toned throughout, maps in pocket toned with manuscript titles to versos in a contemporary hand. One of the series of guidebooks published by Appleton beginning in the 1840s. At the time Roberts was Canada's most prominent writer, known as the "Father of Canadian Poetry" who would be knighted in 1935.
