This deed confirms the purchase of 113 acres in Talbot County. Benedict Leonard Calvert (1700-1732) was the governor of the province of Maryland from 1727 to 1731, having been appointed by the Proprietor: his brother Charles Calvert 5th Baron Baltimore. The Calvert family proprietorship of Maryland had been dissolved during the Glorious Revolution, but had been restored to the 5th Lord Baltimore shortly after his father's death.
