Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 34×27 cm each. A repetition by the painter's own hand of Emil Hannover's paintings nos. 214 and 216 in the Catalogue Raisonné of the Works of C. W. Eckersberg. Frederik von Lowzow was later appointed President of The Supreme Court. C. W. Eckersberg writes about the paintings in his diary: 21 May 1817: “For Hr. Asesor Lausaus Portrait 160 Rdl” (For judge Lausau's (Lowzow's) portrait (received) 160 Rdl). 12 June 1817: “Endt Hr. Lausau og Fröken Brokenhuuses portraiter anden Gang” (Finished the portraits of mr Lausau and miss Brokenhuus portraits for the second time). 19 June 1817: “Imodtaget af Hr Asessor Lausau for sit og Fröken Brokenhuuses Portraiter 320 Rdl” (Received from judge Lausau 320 Rdl for his and miss Brokenhuus portraits). The two pair of portraits have been carried out in the same period as described in Eckersberg's diary. Nos. 214 and 216 was sold at Bruun Rasmussen auction 474, 1985 no 120 for DKK 115.000 to The David Collection, Copenhagen.
