Humber’s range of mechanical transport embraced cycles, motorcycles and motor cars and in the immediate post-war years their motorcycle range focused on horizontally-opposed, flat twin-engined machines. This 3 1/2hp model, with three-speed gears and chain drive, is believed to date from 1919 but was first registered under new legislation in January 1921. Quite remarkably it was bought second-hand that year by the present owner’s father. It has remained in his immediate family ever since and was last taxed in 1928. His son believes the bike saw little use being strictly a ‘weekend’ motorcycle. In the late 1950’s it was moved from one ‘resting place’ to another at which time it was started and briefly run. It has not been started since but is presented in that delightful condition which needs only the oily rag treatment and the most careful conservation. It is equipped with acetylene lighting, bulb horn and leather tool panniers. It is offered with a Swansea V5 registration document.
