Beschreibung:

[2], 18 pp. Illustrated. 12 ½ x 9¾". Trade catalogue. Green, stiff, printed and stapled wrappers. 2 color illustrated product sheets and 2 price lists also loosely inserted. A doll and toy catalogue from the German manufacturing firm August Schelhor's N[a]chf[olgerin] ("successors") was specially produced for the American and British markets. A well-illustrated trade catalogue showing items available to the American marketplace in the early 20th century. Heavily illustrated and priced in both Dollars and Pounds Sterling. Toy section includes growling mohair teddy bears, toy musical instruments, picture blocks, pop guns, and toy animals. One page devoted to clock-work "window attractions." The presentation of such automata as marketing devices, rather than toys as such, was no doubt attractive to retail doll and toy sellers. The automatons include the figures of "Father X'mas," policemen and other occupations, as well as two racist character figures. The concluding section of the catalogue offers to confectioners papier-mâché figures for Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.
