Bullock exhibited many novelties from Australia (such as the porcupine, ant-eater and platypus) and the Pacific, some of which were Cook specimens. The first chapter discusses Sandwich Island objects. Bullock was a former goldsmith who bought up many of the rarities at the sale of the Leverian Museum.
