A Companion to the London Museum and Pantherion … Now Open for Public Inspection in The Egyptian Temple, Piccadilly, London. London: For the Proprietor by Whittingham and Rowland, 1813. 35 engraved plates, printed in sepia and hand-colored; plus two extra steel-engraved views of the museum inserted at end. 8vo. Period quarter calf and marbled boards. Fingersoiling, inner margin with some staining, spine abraded with loss to lettering piece. Fifteenth edition of Bullock’s guide. Bullock exhibited many novelties from Australia (such as the porcupine, ant-eater and platypus) and the Pacific, some of which were Cook specimens. The first chapter discusses Sandwich Island objects. Bullock was a former goldsmith who bought up many of the rarities at the sale of the Leverian Museum.
