Contemporary russia (vols. I and II rebacked, vol. II preserving original backstrip, lightly rubbed). Provenance : George Savile Foljambe (bookplate). LARGE-PAPER ISSUE of the birds from Buffon's Histoire Naturelle Générale (cf. lot 8). 'The hand-coloured plates, which were drawn and engraved by F.N. Martinet under the supervision of E.L.
