Walker who served with the 5th U.S. Cavalry. 4.5 x 6.5 in., under mat with Curt E. Engelbrecht/ Springfield, Mass. blindstamp, mounted in cardstock with closing covers, 8.75 x 9.5 in. The photograph was likely taken in February of 1915 during an engagement involving Cody and retired Indian Wars veterans, including General Nelson Miles, Lieut. Jesse M. Lee, Brig. General Frank Baldwin, General Charles King and others. The lot also includes a silver gelatin copy photograph of Sergeant Robert J. Walker of Colton Place/ Springfield, Mass., as ink identified on verso, dressed in full uniform, 5 x 7 in. The verso inscription indicates that Sergeant Walker was formerly with Co. D of the 5th US Cavalry. Provenance: Descended directly in the family of William F. Buffalo Bill Cody Condition: Light, even toning to photograph of Cody and Walker.
