Bronze Equestrian Figure of Gaston de Foix After a model by Antoine-Louis Barye The valiant Renaissance era warrior dressed in armor and chainmail atop a striding stallion, on a stepped rectangular base. Height 14 inches, width 11 1/2 inches.
The rider is missing an item that was originally held in his right hand; there is glue residue in the area of the horse's tail where it comes into contact with the horse's rear end; there is a clear separation line in the area of the rider's cloak, behind his left shoulder, presumably a join line, which now shows evidence of separation; inscribed BARYE; no apparent foundry marks or numbers; some rubbing and wear to the green patina; it appears both of the spurs on the rider's boots have been altered and may require repositioning
