British Pattern 1730 Long Land Service Musket, c. 1728, .78 caliber, lock with double line border, engraved behind the cock "Es COLE/1728," and crown over "GR" with crown broad arrow government ownership mark below the pan; walnut stock with relief carving around the lock, sideplate, breechplug tang, storekeeper's mark on the right side of the butt and inspector's mark behind the trigger guard; barrel with ordnance view and proof marks and engraved "COLL DALLWAYS REGT No VIII," brass furniture proper for pattern, thumb plate engraved "Co VIII/No 20," sling swivels intact, barrel lg. 46, overall lg. 62 in. Provenance: William Adair Flixton Hall, Suffolk, England; William Keith Neal; and later, the Bill Ahearn collection.
