BREVIARY, use of Paris: Breviarium Parisiense . Paris: Booksellers of Paris, 1767. 4 volumes, 8° (171 x 98mm). Engraved frontispiece in each volume, woodcut armorial title device, head- and tailpieces. Uniformly bound in contemporary French morocco variously coloured for the seasons in red (spring), green (summer), citron (autumn), olive (winter), sides gilt-ruled with corner fleurons, flat spines gilt with contrasting labels, silk endpapers in blue, yellow, green or pink, gilt edges, each volume signed 'relier par la V. E Le Monnier Place Sorbonne' on lower front turn-in (light rubbing at extremities, slight mottling on spring volume). Provenance : Guion (flyleaf inscription washed from two volumes) -- Mortimer L. Schiff (booklabel; sale Sotheby's, 23 March 1938, lot 36). (4)
